Rice flakes are known by several names such as flaked rice, beaten rice, aval, poha, chivda, etc. Rice flakes are perfect as quick cereal, it gets ready in minutes, can be served hot or cold in water or milk. the fluffy and soft porridge. Salt, sugar and nuts can also be added to enhance it's taste.
Rice flakes are one of the healthy breakfast option, can be used in confections, cooking, stew & baking.

Rice flakes for babies
Introducing solids to baby's diet may include rice flakes as they are soft ,fluffy and are packed with other nutrients required for the baby's growth. You can introduce rice flakes in diet by making a porridge with either mixing water/formula milk to it.

Recipe
Rinse poha using water, soak for 5 mins, drain the water and leave it in sieve.
Once rested add Sugar, salt, turmeric and lemon, give it a gentle mix.
Set the pan over the flame add oil, cumin seeds, fennel seeds ,mustard seeds , green chill, asafoetida stir and pour the tadka over the poha and mix.
Now place the sieve over the stock pot with boiling water and steam it for 10 min.
Your soft poha/rice flakes are ready to be served.
